Welcome to this new website. It was launched on Saturday 1st March 2008, so if you have only just found it, don't worry, everyone is new to this site, so come on in, everyone is welcome. The site was created as a 'one stop shop' for all you theatre goers who live in the Edinburgh area. We have listed the main theatres and also the smaller ones. Over the next few months, we intend to add more contact details for the smaller theatres so we can proudly boast the best theatre guide to Edinburgh. Twist and shout your way around swinging London with our 'fab five' as they discover the fashion, freedom, fun and music that inspired original girl power. On March 5th to 8th, A Midsummer Night's Dream takes centre stage at the Festival Theatre. Northern Ballet Theatre brings its magic to Shakespeare’s most bewitching play in this critically acclaimed dance version of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The romantic antics of a touring dance company are played out on one midsummer night as the company travels by sleeper train from London to Edinburgh. Six Characters In Search of an Author is showing at the Lyceum Theatre until March 8th. Based on Luigi Pirandello’s classic avant-garde drama, Six Characters in Search of an Author examines the nature of truth and reality as six ‘characters’ arrive at a theatre where a director and acting company are rehearsing a play. Calling for the director and actors to help them tell their tale, the characters’ lives unravel as the tragic story they were created for is finally played out. The King and I is appearing at the King's Theatre in Edinburgh on March 4th to 8th. Rodgers and Hammerstein's classic is set against an exotic backdrop. It tells the story of an English Governess who endeavours to help the King of Siam come to terms with the modern world. The conflict between Eastern and Western cultures inspired this well-loved musical which includes the songs – Shall We Dance, Getting to Know You, Hello Young Lovers, Whistle a Happy Tune, et cetera et cetera et cetera. Between March 13th and 15th, Fugee can be seen at the Traverse Theatre. Exposed to a life without compromise, young asylum seekers in the UK fight to stay in control of their lives past, present and future... Turn him on his side, turn him on his side. There’s stuff coming from his mouth, bro. When 14 year old Kojo tumbles into the UK “system” with no official papers, and no words in English, he is housed in a refuge for under-age asylum seekers. With new friends Cheung and Ara by his side he begins to reconcile his past and find pleasure in the present. But when the system starts to break down. On March 6th, Heaven On Earth takes centre stage at the Brunton Theatre. Union Dance has created a thrilling evening that reaches beyond the boundaries of dance to present fresh and diverse interpretations of the elusive concept. In Sublime Element Tayeb Benamara uses graceful movement to explore the idea of being in harmony with one’s own contradictions. Singer and musician Juwon Ogungbe provides live accompaniment.
